Ortho-K: clear days, lenses at night

Nu-Sight Opticians is the only independent optician in Aylesbury to specialise in Ortho-K, contact lenses worn at night that gently and temporarily reshape your cornea.

What is Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)?

Orthokeratology, often referred to as Ortho-K, is a reversible treatment that uses specially designed gas-permeable contact lenses to gently reshape the cornea overnight. By wearing these lenses while you sleep, your vision is corrected during the day without the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Ortho-K is non-surgical and reversible, and suits sports, swimming and other activities where glasses or contacts are impractical. Studies show that Ortho-K can slow the progression of myopia in children. There are considerations too: temporary lens awareness at first, a slight risk of infection that can be minimised with proper hygiene and lens care, and regular follow-ups are essential.

Who is it for?

  • Adults with mild to moderate myopia who want freedom from glasses or daytime contacts
  • Children with progressive myopia to slow its development and reduce the risk of long-term complications
  • Individuals who are not ideal candidates for LASIK or prefer a non-surgical alternative

What to expect

  1. 01

    Initial consultation

Your journey begins with a comprehensive eye examination to assess your suitability for Ortho-K.

    Custom lens fitting

Specialised Ortho-K lenses are custom-designed to fit your cornea precisely.

  3. 03

How do I maintain the lenses?

Proper cleaning and storage are essential. We provide detailed instructions and support to ensure your lenses remain safe and effective, and regular follow-ups check the fit and the health of your eyes.

Common questions

No, the lenses are designed for comfort. You may feel slight awareness initially, but this typically subsides after the first few nights.
