A patient and optometrist talking at the Nu-Sight dispensing desk

New to Nu-Sight? Welcome.

What your first eye examination looks like, what to bring and how NHS eligibility works.

What happens at the first visit?

  • 01

    A warm welcome

We greet you and take the time to get to know you, including your job, hobbies and sports.

  • 02

    History and lifestyle

Your eye history, medication and family history help us pinpoint any initial causes for concern.

  • 03

    Scans and tests

OCT and Optomap scans, then your distance and near vision with and without spectacles or lenses.

  • 04

    Results and options

A full explanation of your results, then help from our Dispensing Optician or Optical Advisor if you need spectacles or lenses.

What should I bring?

  • Your current glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses
  • A list of any medication you take, including eye drops
  • Details of any close relatives with a history of eye problems
  • Proof of NHS eligibility, if it applies to you
  • Any previous prescriptions or contact lens specifications
